Spirit of Seduction by Olivia QuincyParanormal Romance - July 5th, 20113 ½ starsZoe has always dreamed of owing the beautiful Chaplin House. When she sells her seed company, her dreams are realized. But Chaplin House has many secrets, including a ghost and a rivalry between the now dead Chaplins and the Nickerson’s. Zoe soon finds herself caught up in the mysterious death of Molly Nickerson, whose star-crossed love with Robert Chaplin caused a past scandal. To add to her difficulties, Zoe finds herself a suspect in the death of Curtis Nickerson. This story was surprisingly sexual. I thought that it would be a light, entertaining read, but the plot twists in which the past and present are explored makes the story feel unfocused. The author gives time to almost every character and their sexual escapades. While this was imaginative, I ultimately found distracting. The author also spends a great amount of time on the mysterious deaths of Molly and Curtis Nickerson but when the deaths were ‘solved,’ I still felt ‘left hanging.’ This is because the endings of both seemed a bit tacked on and anti-climatic. I did enjoy the mystery aspects but wished that the author had spent more time on the mystery and explored only the relationship of either one or two of the couples. As a result this book felt a bit rushed at times and could have been expanded. For example, Zoe herself has multiple partners and her rather abrupt ending with her long boyfriend felt a little strange. This book has a lot of potential. I really enjoyed the idea of a seductive ghost and it has many, many sexy scenes. But overall, it is unable to pull all of its plots and characters together tightly.Reviewed by Steph from the Bookaholics Romance Book Club
